Day 482: Slight TMI, you’ve been warned

So, yeah, I’ve had a pretty rough time since I last blogged. I had a doctor’s appointment and a shot, and the flu-like symptoms afterward took me out for a few days. Then womanly issues (the timing of my monthly cycle is just stellar, let me just say) took me out for another 5 days. The stress and the pain meds I took might have been what caused a slight IBS flareup, and just when that started feeling better today, my allergies acted up and I got a sinus headache. So I’m certainly not feeling great right now, but I want to get some work done since it’s now closer to two months since I last did a full day’s work of writing. So right now I’m going to try for an hour or two of work on my book. I’m only doing blocking so I don’t think it’ll be very difficult. But if my headache doesn’t get better soon, I might just give up. *** I got maybe an hour and 45 minutes of work done, but it wasn’t very productive because of my headache, so I finally decided to quit here. I hope I feel bette

Day 472: Scheduling my writing around my intestines

Thank the Lord, I got about 7.5 hours of sleep last night and I have a lot more energy today than I did yesterday. I went for a walk and did an hour of Japanese study, and even got some home chores done. Then my IBS acted up about an hour ago and I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get to work, but after taking some medicine I’m feeling better. I’m going to try to continue blocking book 4 in my Lady Wynwood’s Spies series again today. *** I ended up needing to do some more house chores today. Thinking back on it now, I probably should have put it off for 5 or 6 hours rather than doing it at the time, because it took up a couple hours that I could have spent writing. Now, it’s 5 o’clock and I’m pretty tired, but I only got a little over 2 hours of writing done. The fatigue is probably partly because of my IBS, and I think I’ll stop work for today and try to get to bed early tonight. I feel a bit guilty for taking it easy, but I was encouraged by a couple other authors who read my

Day 471: I’m still here, but still have health issues

Where I’ve been: It’s been more than 5 weeks since I last got any writing work done. I was sick with a variety of things ( I blogged about it here ), but I discovered that what mostly kept me from writing was the sheer fatigue of being ill. I have writer friends who battle chronic illnesses which are much worse than IBS. I’m starting to realize that it’s not just the pain they feel, but it must also be the tiredness and fuzzy brain that they have to battle through in order to get writing done. For the 2-3 weeks when I had sinus headaches, the headache naturally kept me from my computer, but when dealing only with the IBS issues, while the discomfort was pretty much constant, the pain wasn’t. It came and went irregularly, so it wasn’t as if I was in pain all the time. And yet I couldn’t work because I also had to manage the bone-tiredness, and the way it was so hard for me to think. Now that I’ve been on my elimination diet for about 3 weeks, I’m starting to feel like I have mor
